Althouh you may be using +R media it appears to be so crappy that Nero cannot identify it -

Consider changing media - try going UP in quality -

I am using Memorex DVD+R if thats not what I need, what would you recommend? Could that also be why I cant burn with dvd decypter? Because everytime I rip a dvd it rips it as a MDS file but I thought I had to rip it as an ISO and thats the type I try to but it always comes out as a MDS file. I have used the guides provided and they dont work for me. Thanx in advance

Hello Bullgog, as scuba pete would say, memorex are crap. Only 10% of them are good, the rest-crap.Unless you know which ones to buy, then most of us here would advise staying away from them.

Here is how I use DVD Shrink and Nero. Open up shrink, edit, preferences: Hit I/o tab, tick the box that says enable burn with Nero. While you are in preferences, you might as well tick the target settings from DVD-5 to custom-enter 4300 mbs, click ok.

Now those are set, insert original dvd you want to backup. close out any player windows that pop up. Open up DVD Shrink, open disc. Let it quickly analyze. When the movie screen pops up,reauthor if desired, hit backup when reauthoring is done.

This window that pops up after hitting backup tab, This is where you set it to use your burner-just scroll around till you see you burner. You may have it set to a folder on the hard drive. Set This to your burner. and just below it is your target for the files to go on your hard drive when you are done.
Then you have region tab, make it region free, quality setting tab-if desired, options tab-low priority mode if desired, and then your burn settings-keep it under 4x. as soon as you hit ok,process starts-analyzes,encodes,then spits out original and insert empty disc, then it automatically burns and spits it out when you are done.

Test this disc in all your stand alone players to make sure it is ok.This is also where the quality media and slow burn speed problems will show up.

Hope this helps you out. This is how I do it when I want to rip and burn emediately.

Good Luck

I just ran a google on your hp 200j and couldn't find much. From what little I found It may be + format only and made by sony. The older hps are + and their newer ones are both.

Try some + maxell, tdk, or fujis.

Most brand names are like memorex, many different manufactures with different quality of media using the same brand name. Memorex is the worst at that.

Get some + rw's to start with and make sure your pc can play those backups, then graduate to the +r's. Stand alones seem to have a harder time playing rw's as apposed to r's.
